Submissions:

We are currently accepting fiction submissions that are 5,000 words or less. For longer submissions, please query first with details. We particularly enjoy reading your flash fiction.

Thirst For Fire is a literary webzine and therefore submissions should be literary in nature. No fan fiction, faith-based, sci-fi, interviews, reviews, or ethnic / niche material will be considered. There are plenty of other places for these types of stories. We want to hear about how you lost your virginity to a junkie prostitute in a drunken backseat romp when you were sixteen while your mom drove you around the block playing Sinatra.

We are not accepting poetry at this time either, despite having the definition of the word "literary" emailed to us.

We prefer the sublime, the profane, the bizarre, outlaw fiction. Our favorite stories deal with sex, drugs, Bukowski, violence, subversion, politics, heavy drinking, hookers, and bad punk music.

Please email all your twisted offerings to us at submissions@thirstforfire.com.

To have your work considered for publication simply paste the entire submission into the body of your email and be sure to include your email address and a short bio in case we decide to publish you.

We accept only previous unpublished work and are highly interested in publishing first time writers with extraordinary voices looking for the thrill of seeing their name in print. We ask for onetime publishing rights and permission to archive your work on this site. All stories will be hosted as static HTML documents that will not change once published, so you can link to us. Where you take your work after us is up to you.

All of our time traveling visionaries editors currently hold day jobs so please be patient. We've been trying to up our response time but it can still take up to a month or more depending on our schedule. If over a month passes, feel free to submit your work again or harass us about it. You won't be the first or the last and we won't hold it against you. If we like your style, but hate what you sent us, we're going to tell you, and ask you to resubmit more appropriate work. Expect it.

Thank you for considering us. We look forward to seeing your best work!

Sincerely,

The Editors
